“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye
also love one another.” John 13:34
God has given us powerful promises concerning Relationships and Fellowship; all of which
activate powerful spiritual dynamics that we can enjoy as long as we’re on this earth. Fellowship,
Agreement, Unity, and our Common Faith all carry promises and examples of empowerment if
we implement them in our lives.
First, and most important is our relationship with God. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” God
knows how to bring heavenly relationships our way, but if those relationships are to be healthy,
strong, and productive, they need to be rooted in Christ.
Jesus said, in John 15:5 “…without Me you can do nothing.” This applies to all facets of life,
including our relationships. How many marriages could have been saved if Jesus was included
in their decisions? If we bring Jesus and His counsel into our relationships and walk in love, our
relationships will succeed. 1 Corinthians 13:8 says, “Love Never Fails.”
Our being in fellowship with others is important too, especially to God because, 1, He created us
for fellowship. And 2, our attitude towards our brothers and sisters is our attitude toward God.
1 John 4:20 says, “If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who
does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” This
is why Jesus said, therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your
brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way.
First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift” (Mt. 5:23-24). If your
heart isn’t right with your brother, God’s not interested in your gifts… You cannot buy His favor.
Your attitude toward a brother is your attitude toward God. What a privilege it is to fellowship
with God. Let’s not allow that fellowship to be broken over a temporary offense. It’s not worth it.
That is not what attracts the world, and it will disqualify us as having any validity in their eyes.
Jesus said, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
