“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Acts 10:38

This verse gives us abundant revelation of what it takes to liberate man from the oppression of the devil. It also gives us an understanding of God’s will, and what He calls good and bad. It reveals the purpose of the anointing and power Jesus had. But it doesn’t stop there. No, Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12)

Jesus came to set the example of what the Church should do, what the Church should look like to the world, and how the Church would actually carry on His supernatural power and bring it to an even greater intensity. He would ascend to the right hand of God, mediating the Covenant He established in the earth, and the Covenant benefits and promises made accessible to anyone who would simply believe.

Oppression simply means to be dominated, ruled, and subjected under the rule of another.

In short, to be dominated by anything, whether it be a government, media oligarchs, or pride, lust, fear, anger, offense or bitterness… is to be oppressed! Man wasn’t created to be dominated by anything. He was created to have dominion!

Jesus provided the way for man to be born again, born into God’s family, and be empowered with the same Holy Spirit Jesus walked in, and with the same anointing! Jesus said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me… to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) Why? So, we could go about doing GOOD, healing all who are oppressed of the devil, to bear witness of Him! That’s how we witness to the world what Jesus did for them through His sacrificial acts. He provided salvation, healing, and all the benefits of redemption (Ps. 103:2-5), so we could once again have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth (including plagues), and walk in His power!

God is love, and love liberates! Jesus said, “…you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free!” (John 8:32)

With Love,

Pastor Tom
