“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:8

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8

Double mindedness, where God is concerned, is doubting His Word and His promises. Single-mindedness is simply taking God at His Word and walking in the benefits of His Promises. Let’s not treat our prayer requests like guesswork any longer. Our requests to God are really an exchange – our faith for His response. We can fully expect God to fulfill His Word and grant what He has already promised. Let’s approach Him based on His integrity, and let’s be single-minded about the fact that God is not looking for ways to withhold anything from us. He’s actually trying to look for ways to get things to us!

God gave us a list of things to think on in Philippians 4:8, that says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” As we think, meditate, ponder and chew on these things, our thoughts, attitudes and opinions will be transformed as thoughts of truth begin to free our minds from the doubt and unbelief that a skeptical and unbelieving world are constantly bombarding us with. Meditating on these things will also drive out doubt and unbelief so we will be single minded in our prayer requests and stable in all our ways!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
