“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15
When Jesus went to the Cross, He opened the door for the Father to release all the power necessary to raise Jesus from the dead and undo everything Satan ever did in Adam! Our sins were paid in full! Our sicknesses and pains were carried away at the whipping post. He was made a curse for us, nullifying the curse of the law. He was made to be sin for us so we would be made the righteousness of God in Christ! He accomplished a host of other things too! One of the wonderful accomplishments of His sacrifice for us was that He delivered us from the fear of death! That is the fear that held us in bondage! Hebrews 2:14 says “…that through death He (Jesus) might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil, And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Think about that verse for a while…
Three days after Jesus died, the full power of God hit that tomb! After Jesus spoiled the demonic realm, it says that He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it! This tells us that after the victory of His sacrificial death, He made a show of Satan and his minions OPENLY! The word triumph here means “to make an acclamatory procession! THAT is a Victory Party! THAT is a Victory Parade! This was more than a victory lap! This was a procession in downtown eternity celebrating the fulfillment of the Redemption of Mankind! This Triumph was the Party after the Victory! Everything Jesus ever did, He did for you! You were the reason Jesus came, lived, died, was resurrected, and ascended to the right hand of God, where He now sits praying for you, as it states in Hebrews 7:25! He’s praying for you because He loves you!
Who is this party for? Who is this celebration for? Of course, it’s a celebration of Jesus’ Victory – but the glaringly obvious reason He did it all was because of His love for you! He loved you enough to do it! The invitation to the party was sent to YOU!
The table is set for YOU! God has truly prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies so you can feast from God’s overabundance, bought and paid for by the grace and unending mercies of God!
If you haven’t already, it’s time to join the party and come in from the cold. The cold I’m referring to is the icy chills of the fear of death, the curse of sickness and disease, the uncertainties that breed instability and a sense of powerlessness over your future. It’s time to celebrate! It’s time to join the Triumphant Party! Jesus has given you a blank check! You fill in the amount of that check according to your faith! Join the party and you’ll be… Eternally Grateful to Jesus!
