“And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes nowand look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.” Genesis 13:14-15 NKJV

This scripture above, gives us a very simple lesson in how to obtain the promises and benefits that God has built into the New Testament. By the way, the New Testament is filled with   promises and blessings, redemptive benefits and truths that are designed to make us free from the limitations that we had before we were born again.

The Promised Land of the Old Testament is a type and shadow of the Promises in the New Testament. We read in Psalm 37:3, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land,

and feed on His faithfulness.” Dwell in what land? The Promised Land. Under the Old Covenant, every time we see the phrase “the land” it refers to the Promised Land. God told Abram to lift up his eyes NOW and LOOK from where he was… for all the land you see I give to you and your descendants!” Abram was standing in the Land of Promise. This is significant because of what it translates into for us as believers. It means that, If we can see a promise in the Bible – It’s ours!

God said, “Lift up your eyes and look NOW… from where you are!

Too many times people read the Bible as if it were a Book of laws, rules and regulations that we can never measure up to, nor were meant to. If however, we open the Bible and read it as it was meant to be – a Book of Promises, we’ll not only get excited about the Word, but it will also position us to walk in its truths in a much more dynamic way that will bring glory to Jesus! That’s when the world will begin to take note and see that Jesus lives in us the way He did when He walked the earth!

If we can see a promise, a gift, a truth, a benefit of redemption, a blessing, or a New Covenant empowerment, it’s as good as ours!

The Apostle Peter wrote that we (the Church) have been given exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these we may be partakers of the divine nature! (2 Peter 1:4) The world is looking for the real Jesus, and real believers in Christ! By virtue of the new birth we have inherited the promised Messiah and the divine nature of God! It’s high time for us to walk in these truths and allow the Holy Spirit to begin to work the greater works in us that Jesus talked about in John 14:12, when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

Let’s lift up our eyes NOW – and LOOK from where we stand at this moment. Look into this wonderful promise from Jesus, see it, believe it, and walk in it! He’s already Promised it!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
