“He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” Psalm 40:2

There’s an old hymn that says, “On Christ the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand…”

If your life seems to resemble the shifting sands of ups and downs that leave you with more questions than answers, maybe it’s time to examine your foundation – sinking sands or solid Rock?

Jesus said, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock!”(Mt. 7:24-25) God wants us to have a sure foundation, one that will withstand the storms of life.

He went on to say, “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

God’s plans for us are not evil, His plans for us are plans of good, to give us a hope and a future. That’s His Will for everyone! If we hear His Words and DO them, we are building our lives upon a foundation that will stand when the storms of life come! If we hear His Words and don’t do them, we are building our lives on the sand, and we will fall.

The question is, what are you building your life on? Are you building your own life, doing your own thing and ignoring the possible consequences? Or, are you working with God according to His Word, and allowing Him to bring you up out of that miry clay and establishing you on the Rock to stay?

With Love,

Pastor Tom
