“He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” I Thessalonians 5:24

God is a faithful God. In fact, He is known for His faithfulness throughout the Bible. Deuteronomy 7:9 says, “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations…” God designed His Covenants in such a way as to establish an unshakeable trust that would remove any and all doubt regarding His faithfulness! He is THE faithful God! God has rooted His very Name in faithfulness.

Revelation 19:11 “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.”

Revelation 21:5 “Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

This Faithful God, the Father of glory, the Creator of heaven and earth, has called you! What has He called you to? He has called you His own. He has called you to a life in which you have been given the gift of a right standing with Him. That’s what the Bible calls righteousness. That means that when you fail, when you blow it – even if you do it on purpose, you can go to Him and confess your sins and be forgiven! I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Notice this verse doesn’t mention anything about how we FEEL about our sins. The only condition to receiving His forgiveness is that we CONFESS our sins. Many times, people unconsciously add things to the Word of God that simply aren’t there. When we add to the Word it’s like saying that we don’t believe in God’s faithfulness as much as we believe our feelings, or, as much as we believe in our own understanding of God’s Word. Our feelings are not what activates the Covenant of God. It’s His faithfulness that gives us the trust, courage, and confidence to come to Him and receive His love, mercy, and forgiveness! Subsequently, our feelings will change, but faith in God’s faithfulness is where it begins. He loves to prove His faithfulness! He will always be faithful to His Word, to His Covenant, and to the Blood of His amazing Son, which has already been provided for you! God is faithful, and He will never change toward you!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
