“…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” I John 3:8
Jesus ministered on the earth as a Man, anointed with the Holy Spirit. He operated as a Prophet and Teacher under the Abrahamic Covenant, and used the gifts of the Spirit to defeat satan, establish the New Covenant, and redeem mankind through His death, burial and Resurrection. The only condition to being saved, is to believe in Him and declare He is your Lord. (Romans 10:8-10) Since the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit, it is the right of every believer to be baptized in the same Holy Spirit that was upon Jesus and empowered Him!
Now, it’s our turn to step up to the plate. According to Jesus, those of us who have been born again and have received the Holy Spirit are called to do the works that Jesus did, and greater works than He did (John 14:12). I am thoroughly convinced that much of what we have been empowered by the Holy Spirit to do is to use gifts of the Spirit to make the devil pay back what he stole, including people’s health!
Jesus made the devil pay many times! One of those instances was when He heard from John the Baptist’s disciples that John had been beheaded by Herod. It says, “When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:13-14) I’m sure Jesus was feeling grief and sorrow, but He knew how to hit the devil back!
You see, Herod was not the enemy! satan was. Jesus called satan THE THIEF! And Proverbs 6:30-31 tells us that “when a thief is found, he shall restore seven-fold, until he gives the entire substance of his house!” BINGO! Would you like to know how you can get the devil to fork over everything in his house from his attic to his basement seven times over?! Start ministering healing to the sick, walk in love, forgive those who have hurt you, pray for them who lie about you! You have been empowered to walk the way Jesus did. This is why you’ve been baptized in the Holy Spirit! This is what destroys the works of the devil in others. By the way, there is only one Holy Spirit! He never changes! And He is always ready to make the Words of Jesus good! He’s just waiting for someone to allow Him to work through them! He’s waiting for you!
