Matthew 18:21-35 is the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant who was forgiven a staggering debt, that, in today’s economy would be billions of dollars. Yet, he could not forgive someone else who owed him a stipend of about $20. When the king who had forgiven him heard it, the servant was handed over to the torturers for full payment.

God has judicially settled our own debts at the Cross. Heaven’s demands for justice against US were settled there. The full price for what we owed was paid by Jesus, and the Father requires that we extend the same to others.

If we refuse to forgive, we are granting control to others to rule over our mind and emotions. In other words, we have granted to others the power that rightfully belongs to God.

The Gateway to Freedom relies on extending the same mercy and forgiveness that God has extended to us. It requires honesty, humility, self-examination, and faith in the grace of God. Those are GOOD THINGS! Those are the things that work for us to open the door to our prayers for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation of God, to have our understanding flooded with light to know the hope our calling, our inheritance, and the Power of God!

It’s not about living up to an unrealistic standard.
