The enemy, on the other hand, wants to stop the Word from working in and through us, and He works hard to choke it, steal it, kill it, and render us unfruitful.

One reason God tells us to keep our eyes on His Word is because we are sometimes easily distracted. Matthew 6:22 says, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Now, there are secrets locked up in the definitions of these old English words. For instance, “the light of the body” refers to a lamp. In those days, lamps had wicks that were fueled by oil. When the wick was lit it would draw from the oil supply in order to keep the flame burning.

The word, “single” means to fold together, and comes from a root word that means to twine or braid. It implies winding separate things together to make them stronger by uniting them. So, this verse reveals a powerful truth!

That is: if the lamp of the body is the eye, it means that the eye is what draws the fuel that keeps the flame burning in us. We are either being fueled by the things of this world, or of the kingdom of heaven. We are either focusing on life, or death depending on where our eyes are fixed. This is why our Father is telling us to keep our eyes fixed on the Word! The benefits of keeping the Word before our eyes are immeasurable!

Remember, if you need healing or better health, His Word is health to all our flesh (Proverbs 4:23) and, keeping our eye focused singly on the Word of God, is what unites us intricately with the life and health that is inherent in the living Word of God!

With Love,

Pastor Tom

If you would like more information about this subject, please go to www.testamentoflove.org and scroll down to ‘Listen to a Sermon.’ Then click on the January 18th video message.

Kingdom Business is Eternal, as are the rewards that come from God.
