“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Mt. 6:33
Living in a fallen world can present some challenges to receiving God’s abundance. But challenges are just that – nothing more. They are just challenges based on lies of the enemy, and those lies are powerless against the Word of God! When we walk by faith in God’s Word, we turn the tables on the enemy, and we become a challenge to him, which keeps him on the defensive so we can continue moving forward in God! No matter what our need is, when our focus is on God’s instructions, He is faithful to fulfill His promise (see opening scripture)! In regard to the things Jesus is talking about, it would be helpful to read the previous 8 verses, beginning with verse 25.
If we seek what the world seeks, we’re conforming to the world’s value system, which is based in greed. Greed works opposite to the kingdom of God because God is first and foremost, a Giver! “For God so loved the world that He gave…” Gave what? He gave His only begotten Son…” So, by seeking what the world has to offer, we are not only falling far short of God’s supply, but we are also establishing an agreement with God’s number one enemy! You can see why God doesn’t get involved with those who seek after the wrong things for the wrong reasons. However, if we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, God promises to fully supply us with everything we need. Psalms 34:10 says, “…they that seek the LORD shall not want for any good thing.” Seeking first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness are what bring God’s presence and power into our lives, and we can be sure that all of our needs will be met according to God’s riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), and abundant finances are among the things God promises to add when we do what God says to do!
The focus is not on the world’s goods! The focus is on God and His promises. When our priorities are God’s kingdom and His righteousness, everything else in our lives will fall into line according to God’s will. and all the other things in our life will fall into place in perfect order because the kingdom of God always runs in God’s perfect order!
God is faithful! If God said it, I believe it. That settles it!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
