What We Believe

One True God

We believe God has revealed Himself as the eternal, self-existent Creator of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them; He is the Redeemer of mankind. He has revealed Himself as one God in three separate and distinct personalities; a triune God revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As Creator all glory is due Him.

– Genesis 1:1
– Deuteronomy 6:4
– Isaiah 43:10,11
– Matthew 28:19
– Luke 3:22

AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE

We believe the scriptures are verbally inspired by God and reveal God to man and reveals His will to man. They are infallible and all authoritative. They are the integrity of God.

– 2 Timothy 3:16-17

– 1 Thessalonians 2:13

– 2 Peter 1:21

Whenever we open the Word of God, this is our confession

This Word is God Speaking to me

This Word is God’s Life being imparted to me

This Word is God’s Incorruptible seed being planted in me

This Word is God’s Authority being delegated to me

This Word is God’s Blessing overtaking me

This Word is God’s Ability empowering me

This Word is God’s Counsel guiding me

This Word is God’s Power of Salvation to me

This Word is God Accomplishing in me that which pleases Him

This Word is God Speaking to me

JESUS CHRIST

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, God manifested in bodily form.

Matthew 1:23
Luke 1:31
Luke 1:35
I Timothy 3:16
The Scriptures declare He was born of a virgin.

Matthew 1:23
Luke 1:31
Luke 1:35
He led a sinless life.

Hebrews 7:26
1 Peter 2:22
He died on the cross and bore the sins of the world as indicated in:

I John 2:2
I Peter 2:24
John 1:29
He was bodily resurrected from the dead and appeared to many. He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.

Matthew 28:6
Luke 24:39
1 Corinthians 15:4
Acts 1:9
Acts 1:11
Acts 2:33
Philippians 2:9-11
Hebrews 1:3

MANKIND

We believe man was created in the image and after the likeness of God; Genesis 1:26,28: “God said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.” However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred the condition of spiritual death and has become subject to sin and separation from God. Subsequently his physical body became mortal and subject to death.

Genesis 1:26,27
Genesis 2:17
Genesis 3:6
Romans 5:12-19

SALVATION

We believe the Bible teaches that God has provided only one Savior, that is, Jesus Christ (John 14:6). The only way of salvation is through the shed Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ and not by any works of our own (Ephesians 2:8; Titus 3:5). We believe that salvation is imparted by grace when faith is placed in the finished work of Jesus substitutionary death for us on the cross. Romans 10:9-10 states: “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Furthermore, we believe that salvation has already been offered to all men. God has also given the choice to man to either accept or reject the free gift of salvation.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead and as such, is the Person of God who reproves the world of sin, seals the believer at the new birth, ministers supernaturally to the Church and through the Church with gifts of the Spirit. He guides believers into all truth and empowers them with revelatory gifts (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits), power gifts (healing, miracles, faith) and utterance gifts (tongues, interpretation of tongues and prophecy) and by showing things to come. He takes the things of Jesus and reveals them to us. Above all He glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ!

John 16:5-15
Ephesians 1:13
Acts 1:8
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience subsequent to the new birth. While there is only one baptism into the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:5), there are other baptisms alluded to in the fundamental principles of the doctrine of Christ, which are found in Hebrews 6:1-2. We also believe that speaking in tongues and other supernatural giftings are also evidences of having received the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

THE CHURCH

We believe the church is the body of Christ, with Christ as the Head, and functions to fulfill the mission of God in the earth. Each and every believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the Church whose names are written in heaven.

1 Corinthians 12:1-31
Ephesians 1:22,23
Ephesians 2:22
Hebrews 12:23

JESUS’ SECOND COMING

We believe Jesus will return, and there will be a final judgment.

Matthew 24:1-51
Matthew 25:1-46

ETERNAL JUDGMENT

We believe all people who have faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity with God in His Kingdom, and all people who do not have faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in hell.

Matthew 25:1-46
John 5:24
Revelation 20:11-15

ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH

Baptism in Water

We believe the ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded by the Scriptures. All who believe on Christ as Saviour and Lord are to be baptized. It is a declaration to the world that the believer has died with Christ and has also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. We believe that baptism, while an ordinance of the church, is not included in the work of salvation. It is rather, an outward expression of what has already occurred inwardly by virtue of the new birth.

Matthew 28:19
Mark 16:16
Acts 10:47,48
Romans 6:4

Holy Communion

We believe Holy Communion is a partaking of the elements associated with the sacrificial death of Jesus that He instituted at the Last Supper. These elements are representative of His Body which was broken for us and His Blood which was shed for us.

Luke 22:19
I Corinthians 11:24-25
The emblem of His Body is the bread, which is broken and eaten together. As we partake of the bread we acknowledge that His Body was broken so ours could be whole.

I Corinthians 10:16
The emblem of His Blood is the fruit of the vine, which we drink in recognition of both His life in us and all that His shed Blood purchased for us that is ours by way of inheritance.

I Corinthians 10:16
Holy Communion is a time to reflect both on our utter dependence on His mercy and give thanks for His forgiveness of our sins and to also celebrate the righteousness that was imparted to us at the new birth and the inheritance that is ours because His shed Blood has made us joint heirs with Christ.

Marriage

The Bible defines our views on marriage and the family. We believe in the Genesis account of God’s original design for marriage, which was validated by Jesus Christ in Matthew 19:4-5; that marriage is between one man and one woman.
