“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.” – Galatians 3:11
The Hebrew word for righteousness is translated both righteous and just. Righteousness and justice go hand in hand because Righteousness demands Justice. Jesus said that He came into the earth to fulfill all righteousness (Mt. 3:15). And He did! All of heaven’s demands for justice against sin were met by Jesus. All the required punishment for sin was placed on Jesus. God’s Plan of Redemption was fulfilled! Jesus was raised from the dead by the Father!
Everything the law demanded was fulfilled by Jesus. The law that once condemned us, now lies powerless to accuse because the ransom has been paid (Mt. 20:28) for captive humanity. Jesus satisfied those demands for us as our Substitute, our Savior, and our Lord. “For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Rom. 10:4)
As the title scripture above states, “…no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.”
A person can obey the law to the best of his ability all his life and still die in his sins. That’s because the law cannot forgive sins, or justify, or make anyone righteous. It was never intended to. It was intended to reveal man’s sin, and point to the only remedy for his sin, which is Jesus Christ! When we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, by placing our faith in His shed Blood for our sins, we are born again, and the nature of sin is gone! Our spirit man is wall to wall Holy Spirit from that point on. We have been MADE RIGHTEOUS through faith in Christ! Righteousness is a gift to be received, not a wage to be earned. As a born-again child of God, we have RIGHT-STANDING with God because we have been MADE righteous (2 Cor. 5:21)! Now we are to renew our minds and learn how to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit by Faith!
Righteousness – right-standing with God, is the gift of God, and it is ours through faith in the Risen Christ! There is no more condemnation for us who are in Christ. Jesus, Himself, said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes him that sent me, has eternal life, and comes not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.” (John 5:24)
Right-standing with God is a free gift. If you haven’t already, you simply need to believe in what Jesus did FOR you at the Cross. If you believe in Him, He will welcome you with open arms!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
