“It is the Spirit who gives life… The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” – John 6:63

Our words are the extension of who we are. For starters, our words contain and transport our thoughts, our desires, our aspirations, our beliefs, our likes, and our dislikes. Our words reveal who we are, what we trust in, and everyone within earshot of our words can discern exactly what our intentions are simply by listening to our words. Our words also carry our attitudes and are capable of producing immediate harvests from others of either offense and resentment, or kindness and friendship. In short, our words have the ability to reproduce ourselves in others. Words of strife generate strife. Words of Peace establish peace. Words are living things!

When we examine our words, we are examining who we are. The sum total of our words is what the Bible calls the confession of our faith. Our words reveal what we truly believe, about ourselves, others, and events around us. Our words reveal our faith in God! Jesus said, “…out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45).

God is love, and His love is revealed in His Words. He is who He says He is. He and His Word are One and the same! There is no difference between God and His Words. His Words are the extension of who He is. Our words are the extension of who we are.

Jesus said, “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…” (John 14:6) His Words are the right ways of Life, His Words are Truth, for it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18). His Words are Life because He is Life. Therefore, He is able and willing to give Life to all who will believe His Word. His Life is Eternal Life.

That’s who God is! His Word will never change as long as the earth remains! Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life… the words that I speak they are Spirit, and they are Life!” (John 6:63)

If we don’t like the life we have, the situations we find ourselves in; if we’re unhappy and disillusioned with life, then it’s time to change our words, words that line up with scripture. Tell yourself that you’re loved by God, that He has a plan for your life, that He has delivered you from fear; that you’re more than a conqueror, and, through Christ all things are possible to you! Keep those words flowing continually out of your mouth. It may take a while, but you’ll begin to receive new harvests, new opportunities, new people who you can fellowship with and share your faith, those who will encourage you, and believe God with you. You’ll find out, like many have, that God has been saying great things about you long before you were ever born! But the Good News is – You’ll begin to experience it! There is Life in the Word!

With love,

Pastor Tom
