“…having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints…” Ephesians 1:18 AMPC
Some of us may be old enough to remember the old cartoons where a light bulb would appear as an idea, solution or realization that would suddenly come to one of the characters. Bing! Light Bulb Moment! Many of those realizations come to us all the time, and they could be powerful ideas. Many of them could be from God too! Sadly, however, many of them also fade into the fog of daily routines as quickly as they came. That’s why it’s important to pray without ceasing.
There’s a difference though, between the sudden flash of a lightbulb and being FLOODED WITH LIGHT! The idea of a flood carries several images. Floods reshape the landscape wherever they go! Areas that have been flooded are barely recognizable after floodwaters subside. God’s desire is to so FLOOD us with light that we are no longer identifiable as being of this world, or this world’s system. 1 John 1:5 says, “God is Light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” Ephesians 5:8 tells us that we “…were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” That light has a purpose, and that purpose is to empower believers with the supernatural power that we need in order to successfully walk in this fallen, sin-soaked, demon-filled world of curses and sin.
What makes the Word of God so powerful is that it works very much like water does. It washes us with Truth! It opens the eyes of our understanding. It floods us with revelation and reshapes the landscape of our minds, our understanding of God, the world, and ourselves; particularly, where our new identity in Christ is concerned! The exciting thing is that we can work with the Spirit of God in reshaping our minds, our emotions, our expectations and our outlook on life, and a host of other things, simply by speaking what God says about us in His Word. Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” Those rivers refer to the Word of God! Letting the Word of God flow freely from our hearts will bring about change like nothing else can. No amount of psychiatry or human will power is able to renovate our minds, and reshape our ways of thinking to the extent that the Word of God can! Romans 12:2 says, “And be transformed by the renewing (renovating) of your mind…” How do we renew our minds? When we’re flooded with the light of the Word of God that shows you who you really are!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
