“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16 KJV

God’s call on your life is your ordination to bring forth fruit, and fruit that remains. The kind of fruit that Jesus is speaking of is the fruit that reflects the nature and love of God. That is the fruit that people desire to partake of, fellowship with, and show forth in their own lives.

It’s also the fruit that the Father loves to shower those who bear that fruit, with increase. When we bring forth fruit that remains it speaks of our commitment and consistent devotion to God. It’s what the Father looks for when we make petitions to Him in the Name of Jesus (above). It speaks of a stewardship that reflects faithfulness.

There are some who may think this sounds like a performance or works mentality. But, Jesus, Himself said, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much…(Luke 16:10).” The parable of the talents is an example of this. Remember, the fruit Jesus talked about in the above verse comes from the Spirit, and it’s nothing we can take credit for. However, faithfulness is honored by God, and in faithfulness lies our promotion in every area of life. And fruit that remains will continue to bring forth the fruits of blessing, increase, wisdom, and many other benefits according to the law of seed time and harvest (Gen. 8:22).

Fruit that remains is the fruit that is celebrated and rewarded in the kingdom of God! And Jesus said, “…the kingdom of God is in you!” (Luke 17:21)

With Love,

Pastor Tom
