“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:13-14

Every believer has the right to know what the curse of the law is, and that they have been redeemed from it! Without going into great detail, Jesus took upon Himself more than just our sins on that Cross. He also took everything that sin brought upon humanity. Sin brought sickness, disease, curses, fear and bondage upon us. Jesus bore our sins on the Cross, which was the root of our problems, but He also bore the judgment of our sin, and that judgment included the curse of the law.

The Curse of the Law is listed in Deuteronomy 28:16-68, and includes spiritual death, sickness and disease, poverty, fear and terror, and alienation of every kind. When were born again, we are redeemed from that curse, and the Blessing of Abraham became ours through Christ! Galatians 3:29 states clearly that whatever blessing belonged to Abraham and His descendants, became ours too when we were born again. “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

One day Jesus was preaching in a synagogue and there was a woman who was bent over with a terrible spinal disease which had plagued her for 18 years (Luke 13:10-17). Jesus called to her and said, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity!” She immediately straightened up and all witnessed a miracle! He said that, because she was a daughter of Abraham she “…ought to be healed!” This woman had the right to be healed all the time, but she didn’t know it. Well, since we came to Christ, the Blessing of Abraham is ours too! We also ought to be healed! So, don’t let the devil tell you that all those blessings belong only to the Jews. If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed and an heir to everything God promised Abraham! II Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in him (in Christ) are yes, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

Abraham had an amazing Covenant with God, but Hebrews 8:6 tells us that we have an even better Covenant based on better promises than Abraham had. So, if divine health was what every Jew had rights to under the Abrahamic Covenant, then we, who are in Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, have even more than a right to it. Actually, Jesus purchased it for us with the stripes He took on His back, and healing belongs to us! I Peter 2:24 says, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Abraham walked in Covenant with God, but we are God’s very own children! The Blood of Jesus redeemed us and we are now His own. Everything He promised through the ages has been paid for in full and delivered to the door of our heart, only requiring one thing – that you believe it!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
