“But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.” Job 1:11

Satan thought he could tell God what to do and predict the outcome, but because of Job’s intense patience and perseverance, it all blew up in the devil’s face because within a year Job was healed, restored and on his way to a blessed life! A comeback that was double for his trouble! That’s why it’s important to understand what the Book of Job is all about!

For instance, have you ever heard believers compare their negative circumstances, whether it be sickness, calamities, brokenness, or loss, with Job’s? Really, what they’re saying is that God either gave satan permission to invade their life, or He must have allowed these things. Either way, we need to get real Bible answers to these questions in order to dissolve our doubts and bring our faith and expectations to the level of New Testament power and authority!

Satan thought he would taunt the LORD into lifting His hand against Job. But God didn’t turn against Job at all! He had to enlighten satan to the fact that all Job possessed was already in satan’s hands! Many know that God is a faithful, Covenant keeping God, but, in this case, there was no Covenant established to protect Job. Satan is the god of this world. Job lived before both the Old and New Testaments were written. Let’s take a brief look at what Job didn’t have compared to all we have under the New Testament.

Job didn’t have a Savior like we do! Job didn’t have complete forgiveness of sins. We do! Job couldn’t pray “in the Name of Jesus.” We can! Job had no authority over the devil! We do! Job didn’t have the Holy Spirit in him. He had no Helper! We do! Job didn’t have a Covenant. He had no promises from God! He had no instructions from God! He didn’t even know of Abraham! If he had, he certainly would have addressed God as the God of Abraham, just as all Old Testament saints did. But he didn’t. And he certainly didn’t have the benefits, blessings and provisions of the powerful New Covenant! Our Covenant is backed by all of Heaven, because all heaven honors the Blood of Jesus! Job wasn’t a Christian. He wasn’t even Jewish. He had no Bible. He had no recorded Words from God at all. But we do! Job had nothing. We have everything! Can you see the magnitude of this? Certainly, there’s a huge spiritual difference between born again believers and Job.

So, next time you are tempted to compare yourself with Job, you would really have to negate both the Old and New Covenants, the Blood of Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, the Name of Jesus, and all the Promises he gave to all believers! In other words, let’s look at what God has given us and use it the way Job would have if he could have!

With love,
