“And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.” Mark 4:20
Everything God ever created was for our benefit, right down to His last act of creation, which was the pronouncement of the Blessing. The Blessing was given to empower Adam to have dominion over the world and all that was in it. He was given authority to rule and reign over all the works of God’s hands (Psalms 8:6).
One system He gave mankind came in Genesis 8:22, when God placed the world under the law of “seedtime and harvest…” The judgment that has governed the world ever since then was seedtime and harvest, and it affects every area of our lives. Our words are seeds (Mark 4:14). Our decisions, our actions, our reactions, our attitudes, you name it… most everything we do brings some kind of harvest. Well, God has shown us in His Word how to use our words to bless and not curse, how to season our words with grace and kindness. A couple of the things He has shown is the power of self-control where our attitudes and reactions are concerned, how not to get offended, how to allow God’s love to help us overcome evil with good.
And yet, God revealed the multiplication power of our seed, such as that of a corn stalk. Think about it. One kernel of corn produces a stalk with 3 or four more ears on it, and each one of those ears has an average of about 800 kernels. That means that one kernel is able to reproduce 2,400 to 3,200 more kernels. Each one of those kernels can reproduce thousands more, which would be 2,400 to 3,200 kernels each having the ability to bring forth another four ears with an average of 800 kernels on each…
Do you see what God is talking about in Genesis? The power of seeds with the original life in itself, able to generate unlimited reproduction!
We see another form of it in the loaves and fishes! How five little barley loaves and two fishes can feed 5,000?! The boy who had them gave them to Jesus, and Jesus knew what to do with them… AND there were twelves full baskets left over! That was that boy’s harvest! The Bible teaches that our giving, whether it be goods or services, finances, or even a smile or a phone call to encourage someone, are all forms of sowing seed, and they all produce harvests. Give God the opportunity to break the limits off of your life and show you the potential that lies dormant in you! The harvests of life only come after sowing the seeds you have in your hand. One thing I know is that, if your sowing doesn’t affect you much, then neither will your harvest. But if what you sow costs you something, it means a great deal to God, and all who place their seed in His hands will find out how Faithful He is!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
