“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. ” I John 2:6
There’s a saying we’ve all heard, yet it seems more applicable today than ever before. The saying is, “Actions speak louder than words.” In other words, if we say we are Christians we are saying that Jesus is our Lord & Savior. Yet, Jesus told us that there is a day coming when He will ask us the question, “… Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46). Jesus was our example, who said, “… He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” (John 8:29)
We are living in a day in which the Truth is under attack like never before, and we shouldn’t be adding to all the confusion by saying one thing and doing another. Jesus, after three and a half years of ministry, miracles and working signs and wonders never witnessed before or and we know that Jesus’ Words and actions were identical right down to the letter. He told us to forgive as we have been forgiven – and He, likewise, did no different from what He taught. He forgave those who lied about Him, falsely accused Him, condemned Him contrary to their own law… Wow, talk about leaders saying one thing and doing another. Some things never change. Finally, they crucified Him.
Let’s not be like them. Let’s be like Him… Jesus is doing great now! The Father gave Him the Name that is above every name, placed Him at His own right hand, and gave Him to be head over all things to the Church! Let’s walk in that kind of love, and the more excellent ways of His love. Then the testimony we leave will be consistent with our profession of faith in Jesus, who has forgiven us of untold volumes of sin. After all, the opening scripture says, “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked”
(I John 2:6).
This is how we walk with Jesus and have fellowship with Him.. This is how we honor Him. This is how we express our love to Him. And this is how we rise above all the fear and condemnation of the enemy and do what Jesus would do and walk in excellence! James 2:13 tells us, “…you must show mercy to others. If you do not show mercy, then God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the one who shows mercy can stand without fear before the Judge.”
With Love,
Pastor Tom
