“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.” Romans 8:16-17
The movie, “Mr. Deeds,” depicted a character, played by Adam Sandler, who inherited a media conglomerate from an uncle he did not know from, well, Adam. It’s the kind of story that sets the wheels of imagination in motion, leaving people to wonder if maybe they might have some unknown relative who might leave them a fortune! And, if so, what would they do if money were no object?
The scriptures have declared us to be heirs of much more than any mortal man can give. It tells us that we, who have been born again, are children of God, AND Heirs of God, and Joint-Heirs with Christ, Himself! It also tells us in Ephesians 1:11, that we have already obtained an inheritance! If words mean anything, this is telling us that we have access to all the provisions in the New Testament that are applicable to this life, and much more to come after this life! The provisions of the New Testament contain the list of promises, provisions, instructions, commitments and much more, that God included in His Will! All the proceeds of that will would become the property of the heirs once the Testator died. Well, the Testator (Jesus Christ) died! And when He died everything listed in the Will was transferred to the Heirs.
Here are some things included in the Will that have already been transferred to us to walk in and enjoy:
The Name of Jesus – John 14:13; 16:23-24; Acts 3:6
The Keys of the Kingdom of God – Mt 16:13-19
Eternal Life – John 3:16; John 10:28
The Mind of Christ – 1 Cor. 2:16
Redemption from a Fallen Human Race – Ephesians 1:8
The Forgiveness of Sins – Ephesians 1:8
The Seal of the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 1:13
The Blessing of Abraham – Galatians 3:14
The Righteousness of God – 2 Corinthians 5:21
Freedom from Condemnation – Romans 8:1
Deliverance from the Authority of Darkness – Colossians 1:13
Authority over Satan and his demons – Mark 16:17
Healing – 1 Peter 2:24
Freedom from the law of sin and death – Romans 8:2
Suffice it to say that this is only a partial list of things already transferred to us when Jesus was raised from the dead! All that’s required is that we believe they are ours! So, be encouraged and seek God, stay in the Word, keep asking Him for revelation in the knowledge of these things, and begin to operate in these provisions. God gave them to us to empower us in a dark world! You have the keys! You are the Heirs!
