“…as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head.” Mark 14:3

This woman parted with her perfume that was close to a year’s wages to her. Yet she saw something more valuable in Jesus than any value the perfume could have brought her!

Jesus preached the Kingdom of God. In Daniel 2 we get a glimpse of the power of the Kingdom of God. The Babylonian King had a dream that shook him to his core. He didn’t trust his demon possessed cabinet of astrologers, sorcerers, magicians, and Chaldeans, so he called them in and told them he had a dream – but that he had forgotten it. So, rather than just giving the usual palm readers interpretation, he told them he wanted THEM to tell him what his dream was and the interpretation! He also said that if they didn’t tell him the dream and its interpretation, he was going to have them all executed.

When Daniel got wind of the decree, he prayed with his friends, and God actually revealed it to him along with the interpretation! He went to the king and told him what his dream was and its meaning, and in so doing, he saved the lives of many who would have certainly been killed, and he was also catapulted into the highest position in the Kingdom next to the King himself! We have no idea of the turn-around that brought to the Babylonian people!

Fast forward to NOW! We, as Christians, backed with the everlasting Covenant, can approach God with the same confidence Daniel did. He changed his Empire for the better, and we can do the same and more here in our nation. We have a better Covenant than Daniel had, and a resurrected Christ at the right hand of the Father that Daniel didn’t have. Let’s count the cost of holding on to things that have help us back from experiencing the true riches of the Kingdom of God that cannot be destroyed and will never end! Daniel wrote; “And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” (Dan. 2:44)
