‘And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Mt. 16:19
This is one of those awesome statements Jesus made! While there are several keys, I want to focus on the fact that is a staggering truth, that we have been given the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven! So, given that we live in this fallen world, we need to understand what those keys are and how to use them!
The problem with many people is that they’re not using these keys that Jesus has given us to use! Too many are still waiting for God to do things, or they’re still asking God to do things that He has already done! What pleases God is that we take Him at His Word and appropriate the keys and unlock His Kingdom Power by faith. That’s when the Promises and Blessings of God become ours – when we believe God and receive what He has already provided by Grace!
We need to remember that in Heaven God’s will has no opposition, but in this world, ruled by the god of this world, there is total opposition to God’s will. That means that the will of God is not yet consummated, or made manifest in this world, which is why Jesus told us to pray, “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven.” If God’s will was automatic here on earth, then Jesus wouldn’t have told us to pray that His will be done in earth as it is in heaven. So, when we pray this prayer, which is praying the Word of God, it serves as a huge key in releasing the will of God in this world! Remember, WE have the Keys of the Kingdom here in the earth – not God! Jesus gave them to us, and our prayers unlock, or release God’s will in this world. While there is much to complain about in this world, we need to realize that complaining has never solved a thing. It only empowers the will of the devil. Faith, on the other hand, and prayers of faith are two of the keys that unlock the Power of God, and release the benefits and blessings of the Kingdom of God!
Let’s use what God has given us and expect His faithfulness to prevail over His Word. We will find He is truly faithful! We will also experience His Promises, Power, Blessings and the Benefits of the New Covenant! Everything we need has been provided for us in our Covenant with God, and we have been given the keys that unlock them all!
