“Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

I’m thankful that we have a just God, and a just God doesn’t tell us to do things we cannot do! He
also, very lovingly gives us the “how to’s” as well. The above scripture gives us the key to successfully
resist anything that comes our way, and that key is to submit to God. Submitting to God is actually
what equips us to do the rest of the verse, and that is to RESIST THE DEVIL.”

We do that by resisting fear, which is the manifest presence of the devil. Worry is a product of fear,
and fear is of the devil! Besides, worry is meditation on the words of the devil. Jesus never talked
fear or worry to anyone. Instead, He gave us the keys of the Kingdom of God!

Ephesians 4:27 tells us to “…give no place to the devil.” That verse reveals many things to us. First, it
means that WE have the say-so as to what the devil can and cannot do in our lives, because WE are
the ones who can either give him the foot hold or opportunity he needs by listening to him – or, we
can resist him by resisting the fear and worry he works so hard to get us to believe in, rather than
believe in the One who delivered us from fear!

Let’s take a quick look at the word ‘submit;’ though it’s usually perceived in a negative light, it’s
really a powerful key of the Kingdom! It’s the Greek word hupotasso. It has several applications,
generally it was used as a military term that was used to describe soldiers who were under the
command or authority of a superior officer. When a soldier submits to his superior officer, he is
coordinated with a united military force that is empowered to conquer an enemy! When we submit
to God, we come under the command of the Lord Advocate General of the Church and the Captain
of the armies of heaven! Think about that for 5 minutes!

The kingdom of God is set up to work FOR us, and is designed to unite us with heaven’s resources
through the provisions of the New Covenant, which is the manifesto of the believer. It is the legal
document that was sealed with the Blood of God’s own Son! It is the New Covenant through which
God operates according to the provisions that are written in it. Because of the New Covenant we can
stand confidently in Christ as a united force with God and the resources of heaven and stand
equipped and empowered to give NO PLACE to worry, fear, fretting, uncertainties, and certainly no
place to the devil! No, we operate by the faith that works through the love of God! (Galatians 5:6)
Perfect Love Casts out Fear! (I John 4:18)
