“that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.” Hebrews 6:18
The word, ‘consolation’ above is the word, ‘paraklesis,’ which is a form of the word ‘paraklete.’ Paraklete is the name Jesus ascribed to the Holy Spirit (John 14:16), which is translated, Comforter, Teacher, Counselor and Encourager. In other words, everything positive about God can be found in the Person of the Holy Spirit. Not only that, but this passage refers to STRONG consolation! The word, ‘strong,’ is the word, ischcuros. It is the word that describes the power behind God’s Word, His Promises, His Oaths and His Covenant! It is the word that describes God’s spiritual muscle, and literally means mighti-er, or strong-er… Which leaves the question; ‘stronger than what?’ It doesn’t matter, because whatever it is, He’s STRONGER!
When we read about Hope that anchors us to God, hope that provides us a refuge in God, He is talking about something STRONGER than any power of darkness, stronger than any bondage or broken heart, mind or body! It’s a Hope that acts as a refuge because it’s connected with the GOD OF HOPE! (Romans 15:13) That Hope is the very blueprint for the SPIRIT of FAITH, and faith is what gives substance to the things we hope for! (Hebrews 11:1)
I know people try to tell us not to get our hopes up. But why wouldn’t we hope? If God said it, it has to be true, because He CANNOT LIE! Just because we don’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not true! Victories, Breakthroughs, Triumphs and Miracles all begin with Hope, hope that comes from the Person of the Holy Spirit, who teaches, guides, encourages, and comforts us and empowers us! So, jack your hope up as high as you can get it! Feed your Hope with the Word of God which gives faith the opportunity to accomplish what pleases God and brings about His purposes in our lives! THAT’S THE BEST OF THE BEST, and it’s STRONG-ER than anything the enemy has, because you are connected with God!
