“And David said unto Saul, Who am I? and what is my life, or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king?” I Samuel 18:18

God has always been a great name-caller! He calls us many things in His Word, things that many have difficulties relating to. For instance, have you read Philippians 4:13 as if it was true? That “…I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me!” Or, Romans 8:37, where God calls us “…more the conquerors through Him who loved us!” Or, that “we have the same Spirit of Faith” as Jesus has (2 Corinthians 4:13)! Here’s a big one – “we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21)! Or, even more, how about the Words of Jesus, Himself, who said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12). These are just a few verses of the arsenal of Truth by which God has called us, equipped us, and defined us.

When we read these things, we can only see a discrepancy because we’re not looking at ourselves the way God does… as New Creations in Christ!

Even after David killed Goliath and slaughtered the Philistine army, David had difficulty seeing himself as a member of the royal family. He was exalted as a member of the royal family, yet he was asking, Who am I, and what is my life, or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king?” David’s faithwaspowerful against the enemy, but he had difficulty identifying with where his faith had taken him!

The transition, or rather, the translation of David from a shepherd boy to royalty is something he needed to embrace as faith’s reward. Colossians 1:13 tells us that we also have been “…delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son!”

Let’s stop questioning what God says. Where there are questions there is no active faith. Let God define you! Let Him give you ALL the names He has reserved for you as His child, and a member of His royal family – the family of the King of kings! You have been approved by God, not because of your good deeds, but because of your faith in Christ who did all the doing that was required. Your faith in Him has translated you into the house of the King of kings! Hebrews 11:6 states, “…He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”  God rewards faith and those who believe receive the rewards that faith brings… “… and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith!” (I John 5:4) You Are Approved!

With Love,
