“Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” Matthew 7:24
The more we DO something, the more it becomes a part of us. We were created this way. The things we do continually begin to influence our thoughts and routines. They become part of us, part of our plans, our expectations and much more. The more we do those things, the more we identify with what we are doing. That’s why Jesus doesn’t only want us to HEAR His sayings. He wants us to DO them! When we do, we become what we do! This is how the promises of God become our way of life. The more we DO His Word, the more it will become a part of our every moment, and the power of His Word will begin to transform us in every way!
The word ‘liken’ in the above scripture, is the compound Greek word homoioo, pronounced hom-oy-o’-o: homo meaning the same as; and ioo which refers to the process of becoming, or being made like something. This is the same word used in Hebrews 2:17, where it says. “So it is evident that it was essential that He be made like (homoioo) His brethren in every respect…”
So, Jesus was saying that when we hear these sayings of His, AND DO THEM… it will initiate a process in our lives which will invoke the will of God, and we will be transformed in the process as we build a more secure life, and the promise of protection from the storms of life that may come our way. When we Do His Word, we become what His Word promises!

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” Mt. 7:24-25
