“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.” Isaiah 7:14

“Emmanuel is a Hebrew word that means ‘God is with us.’ How do we relate to this today? What does it mean that God is with us? How can we have confidence that God is with us?

First, let’s look at it in terms of the Names by which God introduced Himself to us in the Scriptures. His Names reveal His will and intentions, and desires. That’s what He wants us to       know about Him. So, if we identify with Him and relate to Him according to the Names He calls Himself we can begin to apply them to our expectations and prayers.

For instance, one of the Names of God we find in Exodus 15:26, is Jehovah-Rapha! Which means, “I Am the LORD that Heals You!”

When Jesus lived here in the earth, He healed countless people. People were healed of all kinds of sicknesses and diseases, He opened deaf ears and blind eyes, restored withered arms and legs, and the crippled walked! He also cast out demons!

Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

If you need healing in your body, you can go to Jesus in faith and receive your healing. If He healed people then, He will heal them now. He hasn’t changed. He is Emmanuel! He is the God who is With Us!

Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the Lord, I change not;”

He is present to heal – ALWAYS!

Other Names He has called Himself in scripture are:

Jehovah-Jireh: the LORD our Provider

Jehovah-Raah: the LORD our Shepherd

Jehovah-Shammah: the Ever-Present God

Jehovah-Shalom: the LORD our Peace

Jehovah-Nissi: the LORD our Banner of Victory

Jehovah-Tsidkenu: the LORD our Righteousness

What is your prevailing need? Is it Provision? Guidance? Peace? Victory?

Go to God based on His name. Ask God to fulfill His will in your life according to all His Name says about Him. That’s who He is, and that’s who He wants to be to you.

Accept Him as the LORD your healer, the LORD your provider, The Lord your Shephard, the Lord Your Peace… Take Him at His Word and let Him be all those things to you!

“For God so loved the world (you) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever (that’s you) believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life!” He wants us to have abundant life, to the full, till it overflows with everything God is, and has to give!

Merry Christmas!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
