“…and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” I John 5:4
Faith is a different kind of “seeing.” Seeing things through the eye of faith is looking to the unseen, (which are those promises in the Word of God that are not yet manifest in our lives) and seeing them as if they were already a reality, and walking accordingly. The Amplified Bible defines faith like this: “Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
God’s Word states many real facts concerning us; that we are new creations, that God always causes us to triumph through Christ, that we were healed by the stripes of Jesus! That we have been given authority over all the power of the enemy. Then, on the other hand, many look at their outward lives and circumstances and see the disparity between what God says, and what their lives say, and become discouraged. That’s not faith! That’s believing our senses instead of the Word of God. Just because the truths in the Bible are not yet revealed to our senses doesn’t mean they are not true. They ARE a reality in the spirit. God has accepted them as real and declared them in His Word to define us! That’s how God sees us, and He gave us His Word to allow us to see ourselves as God sees us! Faith is what brings those realities into manifestation by agreeing with the Word of God and walking accordingly!
Paul wrote, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.” II Cor.4:13
When we hear the Word of God, faith comes, equipping us with world-overcoming, sense-overcoming, and mind renewing faith! Faith is what identifies us with Jesus, who overcame every single obstacle, trap, problem, entrapment, ambush, storm, demons, deception and more, until He willfully laid it all down for us to do the same… No wonder John said, “this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith!”
