“Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.” Acts 6:3

If I deposited a million dollars in your bank account and never bothered to tell you about it, it wouldn’t do you much good, would it? Well, there are many benefits and provisions in the New Testament that believers are totally unaware of. Yet – they are there, and they belong to us! Jesus considered one such provision to be important enough for Him to seal it with a guarantee of His Presence and Power. That gift is the fellowship that occurs when believers gather together in the Amazing Name of Jesus! “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20).

“Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27) means just that! Christ is in us individually and among us corporately! Your Intercessor, your Advocate with the Father, the Mediator of the New Covenant; the Guarantor of every Promise, Provision, Blessing and Benefit of the Bible is in you – and among us in an active role when we gather in His name! These provisions have been in the Bible for 2,000 years and yet, many are unaware of their significance.

His Intercessory ministry begins to work in, and through our fellowship. Things we need help with might come through a word of knowledge as we begin to fellowship around the Word of God. All the various ministries of the risen Christ are all active in the fellowship of the saints because where two or three are gathered together in His Name… He is there in their midst!

One of the seven men that was appointed a deacon in Acts 6:5, was Stephen,“…a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost…” He was chosen from among the people (Acts 6:3), which means he was actively in fellowship with them. They knew him. He had a good reputation and they held him in respect. They opened up to him. In short, he was among them! Stephen experienced the miracles and the wonders that came about through fellowship with believers, and He was able to minster to them in an amazing capacity!

It would be wise to commit to be among fellow believers as often as they are gathered, and to anticipate the ministries of Jesus to be in operation through the Body as we gather. After all, the Body of Christ is His Body, and He gave His life in order to fellowship with us and share His kingdom power with us. That’s the kind of power we need as long as we live in this fallen world, and, as we allow Him to replace our agenda with His, we’ll find new treasures in our earthen vessel, as well as our fellow believers. As His Body in this world, we can gather and truly live where all things are possible, because He is among us!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
