“And a certain woman named Lydia…which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened…attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there…” Acts 16:14-15

Lydia was a woman whose heart the Lord opened to hear Paul’s words. This is key to understanding how the Lord communicates to us. According to scriptures, we need to hear the Word of God with our heart. Faith is of the heart. Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness…” The amazing thing about the heart is that it can hear things in an instant that 10,000 words cannot explain. Here is an example:

Think of a composer who’s writing a symphony on his score charts. Though he may have heard the entire symphony in his heart in just a flash of time, he still had to write all the parts on many pages, individual scores for each instrument; it takes many days, weeks and long hours to write it all out. Yet he knows exactly what notes to write, because he heard it in his heart long before he could write it out. For example, it was said of Mozart that his original scores were written without corrections of any kind, almost as if he was taking dictation.” The music was simply flowing from his heart. That’s where he first heard it – in his heart! Yet, in order to put it into a form for an orchestra, the arduous task of writing it all out was necessary in order to convert what he heard in his heart to be produced for natural ears to hear!

Like I said, our hearts hear and perceive things that our ears will never hear – messages, promptings, intuitions, flashes of illumination or revelation, a sudden burst of wisdom, or a quickening of a scripture comes to your heart. This is precisely how God designed the Body of Christ to operate – through wisdom and revelation! It’s a way of communication that our enemy can’t pick up on until it’s already in motion. It’s how we abide in that secret place of the most High, by doing the Word and producing in the kingdom of God before the enemy can even set up his roadblocks!

So, next time you get a sudden vision on the inside, and you know God is opening your heart to His Words and direction, even though the task seems too big, remember, the One who gave you that vision is also your Helper! All he needs is your heart, and that’s where your spiritual muscle of faith is just waiting to be released!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
