“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Luke 12:34

We often hear the expressions, soul mates and soul ties. Actually, those terms would be more appropriately applied to the heart. Our heart tends to connect with many things, especially our past. One thing I love about the Word of God is that it directs us into the future that God has given to everyone who has placed their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior! That’s when the Word gives us a new identity in Christ that propels us forward into the true and living Hope we have been called to as new creations in Christ!

Jesus said, where our treasure is there our hearts will also be. He was admonishing us to watch over our hearts and be careful what we treasure. For it is with the heart man believes unto… anything! Regarding our salvation, it is with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10) There are good treasures of the heart, and there are evil treasures.                                                                                                                   Luke 6:45 says, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” What we speak is what we treasure! And, what we treasure determines the direction of our heart!

If our mouth is speaking evil things, like the lies we hear from the media, then our hearts will eventually become full of evil treasures, and our hearts will bring forth that which is evil. If we continually speak the Word of God into our lives and situations, our hearts will be abundant with good things, and we will bring forth that which is good!

Our hearts can be filled with good or evil things, and God, by the way, has placed the stewardship of our own hearts under our authority! That may seem like a burdensome responsibility, but actually, it’s a wonderful privilege to have the freedom to fill our hearts with words of Blessing, the Life of God, the Hope of God, the Peace of God and all the Riches of the inheritance God has given freely for us to enjoy!

Let’s fill our hearts with the good things of God and fill our hearts with His good treasure! And out of that good treasure we’ll bring forth that which is good! For where our treasure is there will our hearts be also!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
