“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ” Romans 8:16-17
If you knew you were an heir to the greatest fortune of the most powerful Person in this world, it would affect your entire outlook and response to everything in life! The above scripture tells us that WE ARE HEIRS OF GOD – and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST! That locks us into a fail-safe inheritance that is not based on human limitations, but on the accomplishments of Jesus, and the irreversible Covenant that he sealed with His own Blood! No wonder they call Him SAVIOR!
It occurs to me that if some people read these same words in a newspaper, they’d have no problem believing them! Yet, when these same words appear in a Book called the Holy Bible, they’ll read them and ask, “I wonder what in the world He means by that?!?”
God is a very direct Communicator. He says exactly what He means. His Word is powerful enough to create the entire universe! We need to allow the Word of God to blow out the stained-glass windows of religious thinking and traditionalistic mindsets that have robbed believers of their faith, their authority, and their Covenant Promises, Benefits, and Blessings for centuries! Jesus told the religious leaders of His day that their religious traditions made the Word of God of NO EFFECT! (Mark 7:13).
God has given us an identity as His heir in the scriptures! Heirs think like heirs, act like heirs, and pray like heirs because they believe in the legal authority of a document that names them heirs of a benefactor. If we looked at the Bible as we do a legal document, we would understand that we have a far greater Document than any earthly one. It is the New Covenant, authored by God Himself to you! It is the HOLY BIBLE! If you believe what it says about you, it will redefine and breathe new power into every aspect of your life!
We are heirs to a magnificent inheritance that cannot be exhausted because it is an eternal inheritance that has no end!
Yes, You Are an Heir of God, and a Joint-Heir with Christ!
