“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Cor. 15:57
It’s always nice to know that we have been declared victorious before going into any battle! This doesn’t tell us we’ll win some and lose some. Jesus never lost one battle! Whether it was people trying to stone Him, a storm of hurricane proportions on the Sea of Galilee, demonic attacks, or those of religious leaders who challenged His message, His authority, or accused Him without cause; He always walked away victorious! That’s because He knew He was victorious going into the fight!
When people were going to stone Him, He said, “Many good works have I done in My Father’s Name! For which of those works do you stone me?” Their agenda was paralyzed! When a sudden, massive storm on the Sea of Galilee threatened to sink his boat, “He rebuked the wind and spoke to the sea, and said, Peace! Be Still!” There was a great calm! When the religious leaders challenged Him according to the law, He said, “Let he among you who is without sin, cast the first stone at her.” They dropped their rocks. He never lost a battle, a challenge or an attack! Whether people, powers, or forces of nature, He always emerged victorious!
Why did Jesus do all these things? To satisfy His own ego? To appear more powerful than them? When He died on the Cross, did He do it to pay for His own sins; or ours? When He rose from the dead, was it to prove His deity, or deliver us from fear of death? The answer to all these questions is this:
Everything Jesus did, He did for us!
Most Christians believe that Jesus is all-powerful. Most believe He has all authority! The problem is they don’t believe they have any power or authority! But that’s exactly why Jesus did what He did! He did it to empower us! He did it to give us a complete victory, which He conferred upon us at the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-19)! His victory, and all the benefits and spoils of His victory became ours!
We can now walk in total and complete victory because everything He ever did was for YOU! His Victory is Your Victory!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
