“As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.” Genesis 17:4
The expression, “It’s in the mail!” should give us the assurance that whatever we have sent is as good as in the hands of the addressee! Especially when it is followed by words like, “It went out yesterday.” Or “It was sent out in this morning’s mail!” Although the U.S. Post Office only loses about 3% of our mail each year through human error, on either the postal service’s end, or sender errors, like wrong addresses, we can be assured though, that not one Word God ever spoke fell short of its intended mark. It has always produced everything that God intended!
When God said to Abram, “As for Me, My Covenant is with you,” He was, in a sense, saying “It’s in the heavenly mail system. It’s as good as done! My Word has already gone into your life! It will not fail you. It will not return to Me without accomplishing what I please and achieving and fulfilling My intended purpose in your life (Isaiah 55:11)! My Word is Covenant Reality, and I will not break my Covenant, nor will I alter the thing that went forth from My lips.” (Psalm 89:34)!
When God spoke the above words to Abram, telling him that he will be a father of many nations, all Abram had was God’s Word. The downside was that he was 99 years old, with a barren wife, and he was living the life of a nomad in a strange land that God was going use as an inheritance for Abram’s descendants! In other words, in the natural, Abram had no evidence that any of God’s promises were true or would even come to pass. Yet, God opened Sarah’s womb and Abram, now Abraham, was 100 years old when Isaac was born!
How about you? It may look like God’s Word hasn’t worked for you. It may seem like God’s promises are so out of the question that you can’t see any way that even one of them will come to pass in your life. That’s exactly where Abram was! Then he started calling himself what God called him – ABRAHAM! A Father of many nations! He started acting like God and called things which are not as though they were! And through His believing God with corresponding actions, he brought forth Isaac, the son God promised so the Hebrew race would be birthed in supernatural Covenant Promise!
Don’t be afraid to believe God. He is faithful who promised and will fulfill it (Hebrews 11:11). Believe God for His promises because every one of them is backed by Covenant Power and Authority. II Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in him (in Christ) are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” In other words, It’s not just in the mail. It’s as good as done – actually, Signed, Sealed, and Delivered when we believe it and act like it!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
