“Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.” Psalms 8:2
The Word of God states emphatically that we were created in the image and likeness of God. That theme begins in Genesis 1 and continues throughout the Bible. We can conclude therefore, that we were created like God in order to fellowship with God, and we were given the unique ability to function and operate like God, with dominion over all the earth. (Gen. 1:26-28)
Let’s revisit the creation of the world. How did God do it? With Words! He had an image in Him of an earth that was dry and filled with light. However, at that moment, the earth was covered with water and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The Spirit of God was moving over the face of the water, but nothing changed until God spoke the image that He had inside of Him!
When we realize how and why we were created in the Image and Likeness of God, and approach it as it was written, we can readily eliminate many problems in this world. Have you listened to what people are saying? Deceit and lies abound to the point where words of strife and confusion are creating the very counterfeit image that the god of this world has built into his children. (James 3:16)) In other words, they are establishing their own judgment as children of a defeated, condemned, dead spirit.
We, as the Body of Christ, however, have an Image and Likeness inside each of us – and collectively – that authorizes us to speak the Word of God, which, the devil has no defense for. Jesus said to satan, “It is Written, It is Written, It is Written,” and the devil never approached Jesus one-to-one ever again after that! Jesus was speaking more than words. He was speaking the Image that God had originally given to man, which was dominion over creeps that crawl! That would include satan, and his minions. Do you realize the power that God has bestowed on us in His Word?
If we believe everything God has said about Himself, then we also must believe everything God has said about US! When we believe His Words concerning us, which is the Gospel, we become the dominating force that the world is looking for! (Rom. 8:19) How? By Speaking forth the Image inside! This is why the Gospel is the Power of God unto salvation to all who believe…! (Romans 1:16-17) That power is released when we start speaking the Image of God, which has been breathed into us. You’ll find it is a prophetic reality when we agree with the Creator of the universe and all that is in it! We are the heirs of that kingdom!
