“…And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead…” Ephesians 1:19-20
I think we all have accepted that God’s power, which is revealed in the creation of the universe, is indescribable in mere words! God never explained His Power. He just demonstrated it! That’s how God desires for us to believe – according to the exceeding greatness of His power that is continually coming toward us who believe – according to what? According to the mighty power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead!
It helps our prayer life when we begin where God begins – with His mighty power! If we took an inventory of our past dreams, hopes, relationships, opportunities and other things that have long-since died in our lives, we need to consider what God’s Word says! There were two sisters, Martha and Mary, who lost their brother, Lazarus. He had been dead four days, and they were still grieving when Jesus came to see them. Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die…” then He asked her, “…Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
What we believe is important to God because it states in Hebrews 11:6, “…without faith it is impossible to please Him (God).” Like I said earlier, it helps our prayers if we begin where God does – with the answers! The answers are found in Who God is! Wherever He showed up, when people believed in Him, the dead were raised, the sick were healed, the multitudes were fed, lepers were cleansed, demons were cast out, storms ceased, and even Peter walked on the water when Jesus told Him He could!
Let’s approach God in prayer the way He desires us to; according to faith in His mighty resurrection power that He demonstrated in the resurrection of Jesus, and not in our own limited, human understanding. His power exceeds our needs, restores to our lives those things that we thought were dead, and so much more! He simply asks that we believe according to His mighty power that raised Christ from the dead! That’s when our minds, and our God-given imaginations can embrace the God-kind of power the Bible promises to all who BELIEVE according to His mighty power!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
