“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling…” Ephesians 1:18

Have you ever been looking for an answer to a situation, and then one day, out of the blue, you got it! It was exactly what you needed to know? Your immediate expression would be, “Oh, I See!” Now, you didn’t see it with your physical eyes. You saw it with the eyes of your understanding. You said, “Oh, I see!” That was the eyes of your understanding, and, as long as we are in these bodies, that’s how we will see spiritual Truth. It’s how we will see ourselves in the light of what the Bible says about us. It tells us who we are, what we have, all we can do, and where we have been seated in heavenly places in Christ! Jesus said, in John 3:3, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Which means, that if you ARE born again you CAN see the kingdom of God!

When the Apostle Paul was caught up into the third heaven, he saw things that he could not describe. Being in the spirit, he saw those things with his understanding like he was seeing them with his physical eyes. But when he came back into his body, he saw them with the eyes of his understanding; and as long as we are in our physical bodies that is how we see the kingdom of God.

James 1:23-25 says that the scriptures act as our type of spiritual mirror. They show us who we are in Christ. But we don’t see those things with our natural eyes. We see them with the eyes of our understanding; and when we walk in the understanding of those things, that is faith.

One way we can receive the same revelation that the Apostle Paul and many others received, is to pray the Ephesian prayer that Paul prayed. Paul wanted us to see what he saw, and this prayer is an avenue to open us up to see what Paul saw, receive the revelation that Paul received, and walk in the same power he walked in. Paul’s revelation wasn’t just for Paul. It was for every believer. And he told us to pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. His prayer is found is Ephesians 1:16-23. If you will pray this prayer every day for 6 months, the Bible will be a new Book to you, and your life will be new for you! Why? Because the eyes of your understanding will be flooded with light and you’ll be walking in your calling, accessing your inheritance, and experiencing the exceeding greatness of His power – the same power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead!

So, allow God to bring His goodness into your life in a new way, where you’ll be just as confident in your understanding as you are of everything else you see because His understanding will be working in you in a very new way!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
