Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” II Corinthians 5:17

The redemptive work of Christ was not for the children of Abraham, or for the children of the Gentiles. It was for the children of Adam. The children of Abraham were involved in bringing Messiah into the world, but righteousness was never achieved by either Jew or Gentile. The Jew had the law of Moses, but he couldn’t obey it. It was never given to be obeyed. It was given to bring man’s sins out in the open where he could see them and the extent of his ruin became apparent, leading him to the need for a Savior. Man in Adam, whether Jew or Gentile was unfixable; his only remedy was Redemption.

The Gospel of Christ was the solution that man could bow to. Incapable of obtaining righteousness through his own efforts or obedience to any law, it was freely given to him through Christ’s redemptive work on the Cross. The only human condition of obtaining God’s righteousness was found in placing faith in Christ. This was as easy for the Jew as it was the Gentile, with, or without the law; because it must trust in God’s Grace. Jesus attained for us what was impossible for us to even approach.

We couldn’t be fixed, so God recreated us! Our spirit man – our innermost being is completely new. Now, the New Creation is our amazing new identity!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
