”And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.“
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood
hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That
thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou
shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:16-19

When I was young in the Lord, I was waiting for God to show me something powerful! Maybe
He would open up the skies and explode into my life with an earthshaking revelation that will
solve all my problems, answer all my questions, and meet all my needs. Yet, the scriptures tell us
that it is the little things that mean big things to the heart of the Father. Jesus said, “He that is
faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much…” Lk.16:10. So, God starts us with small things, and if we’re faithful with those, He gives us more.

There is a foundation for every new step in the life of a believer. And that foundation is Jesus.
We find out more about Him with every new glimmer of light. One day, the Father revealed to
Peter who Jesus was. And that revelation brought the Blessing into his life, a new identity, and it provided him with the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven!

God didn’t split the skies open, He didn’t part the clouds, or come charging down in a white
horse with trumpets blaring! He simply revealed to Peter, who Jesus was, and it changed his life forever!

If you analyze it, Peter received nothing more than you and I did. When we realized who Jesus
was and confessed Him as our Lord and Savior, we were born into the family of God. That was
when we became a living member of the body of Christ! Like Peter, we were given a new identity
in Christ, we received the Blessing of God, and the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. All given to us as heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ!

So, the question remains, What was the last thing God revealed to you? Don’t wait for the clouds
to part and Jesus to appear to you. Take what He’s already given you and run with it! You have the Keys of the Kingdom!

With Love,
Pastor Tom
