“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world…” John 17:6
The word Exodus means “the way out.” The story of Israel’s Exodus from slavery in Egypt has been referred to by teachers of the Word of God as an analogy for believers who are seeking a way out of any number of bondages they may still be dealing with. The problem with that analogy though, is that it keeps many Christians in a type of limbo. We, who have already been born of God, have to accept the reality of all Jesus has already done! We have been filled with the Spirit of God, have been made new creations in Christ, and have become children of God! Unlike the children of Israel, who needed a deliverer to be sent to them, one who would be used by God to bring demonstrations of power, is that God has already completed His work inside us! We no longer have to wait for signs and wonders in order to know that we have been delivered!
Actually, the way out of everything for a believer is to realize that the way out was the WAY IN! We are IN CHRIST! We need to understand that we have already been delivered from the power of darkness and that we have been translated into the kingdom of God! (Col. 1:13)
The Power of the Cross, the Power of the Blood, and the Power of the Resurrection is already a reality in every believer! We have been raised up together with Christ in heavenly places and have been seated together with Christ far above all principalities, powers, might and dominion! (Ephesians 1:17-22; 2:4-6)
Under the Old Covenant people had to wait for an outward sign. Under the New Covenant, we have been empowered by the Spirit of God with supernatural power! The dynamo of God’s Light and Power, which is the very Person of Jesus now resides in the spirit of every believer! We have also been qualified by Jesus Himself! He said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover!”
Too many Christians are still waiting for a sign to influence their decision to act as if the Bible is true. The Bible is more than true – It’s spiritual law! The Words that God spoke can never be altered. They are pure Covenant reality backed with God’s own Blood. He bound Himself to His Word, and, if His Word abides in you, He abides in you! This is what elevates the Power of the Cross beyond anything that man could ever conceive of. Paul said, “for it (the preaching of the Cross) is the power of God to all who believe!” That means being In Christ is THE WAY OUT of bondage and slavery to sin because it makes us righteous and brings us into right standing with our wonderful God!
