“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
We’re talking about running our race this month and there are aspects to any race that runners need to consider. There is preparation, training, sacrifice, and a will to press on to surpass the opposition.
Many who start out with unquestionable dedication soon find out dedication alone doesn’t provide the spiritual strength needed to finish their race and obtain the prize. We can all relate to hearing the Word preached on Sunday, feeling inspired and deeply dedicated. Yet, halfway through the week it seems like our dedication begins to evaporate.
The above scripture says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” one of the definitions of ‘inspiration’ is: “Divine guidance or influence on a human mind or soul resulting in the excitement of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or action.” In others words, inspiration stirs the mind and emotions, but we are in a spiritual race that requires spiritual strength to win the prize!
Spiritual strength goes beyond human dedication and will power. Inspiration is designed to motivate us to seek God for power that comes from revelation knowledge! Paul prayed for the Ephesians… “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,” (Ephesians 1:17)
Revelation knowledge is the fuel that our dedication needs in order to endure the spiritual race we’re running and the kind of opposition we’ll encounter. Revelation knowledge will help us to prepare wisely, train properly, help us lay aside things we don’t need, and gives us the will and vision we need to continue to declare the end from the beginning through to the end! Furthermore, revelation knowledge is something the devil has no defense for, which means he is disarmed and vulnerable to the kind of power we receive through revelation knowledge. Once we learn how to receive revelation knowledge, our dedicator will work just fine!
So, let inspiration have its perfect work, to open us up to revelation knowledge that fuels us for the training we need to run our race with lasting endurance that empowers us to win the prize!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
