“So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22
Jesus said this to His disciples just days before He was crucified, and His hour was rapidly approaching. He knew that the only way He could embrace all that was about to come upon Him was to have faith in God!
One thought we can take from these words is that there never really is a good time to do what we know we have to do. There is never a good time to crucify our flesh. There is never a good time to lay our life down for others. There never is a good time to face what Jesus faced, which are trials, pain, rejection, betrayal, and it all required every bit of strength He had – and more!
When the road gets hard, and all we can see ahead is more hardship with no end in sight, we need to embrace the Words of Jesus and Have Faith in God!
Hebrews 12:2 tells us that, “…for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Faith sees the end from the beginning and connects with the joys of tomorrow’s promises being fulfilled rather than the sorrows and hardships of today. Faith sees through discouragement and lays hold of the promise. In other words, faith looks at the promises instead of the problems.
So, when the road turns toward the Cross, which, in our case, is the trial of our faith, we really need to embrace the reality of the resurrection power that lives in every believer (Romans 8:11)!
This is how Jesus paralyzed that devil and destroyed his works! It’s how Jesus defeated sin, death, hell, and the grave, and fulfilled God’s Great Plan of Redemption! This is how Jesus endured the
Cross! The joy that is connected with enduring the trials and tests of this world is greater than any joy this world can give. When Jesus looked to the joy that was set before Him, that joy gave Him the endurance He needed to go through betrayal, the mockery of false accusations, the rejection of the
religious leaders and the people they deceived. He wasn’t looking to them. He was looking at the joy of the resurrection, His glorification, and the opportunity to open the heavens for anyone who would believe in Him!
No wonder He said, “Have Faith in God!” Faith is the victory that overcomes the world!
With Love,
Pastor Tom
